Why do we have them?
  • It is used to identify people because no one has the same fingerprints
  • They enhanse our sence of touch, the bumps create small vibration which are picked up easier than smooth skined fingertips.
Classifications

  • It is the pattern of the ridges on someones finger
  • Helps identify who you are
  • However if the person has had a slight injury to their fingers such as abrasions or cuts that dont affect the dermal papillae the prints will regenerate, but if it dermal papillae is destroyed the ridges will not come back.
